How Volkswagen Part Numbering System Works
Volkswagen Part Number System The part numbering system used by Volkswagen was created back in the 1930’s by the original creator of the Volkswagen Beetle, Ferdinand Porsche. It still in use today, the system has been adopted by many automakers including Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and more. While it may appear to just be a random string of numbers, there’s actually meaning behind each of the numbers and segments. Here at Speedcraft Volkswagen, we’ll show you how the Volkswagen part numbering system works. For the VW part number, the main portion consists of 9 digits. These nine digits are the first three groups of three shown in the number. For the sake of clarity, the letter “O” will never be used in a part number, as it can easily be confused for the number 0. Take a look at the image below to see what each group of numbers represents: Volkswagen Part Numbers As you can see, the first three numbers represent the model or engine that the part works with. Each model or engine has their own unique number code which will appear here. The second chunk of numbers is broken down into two sections: the first digit and the second and third. The first digit depicts the Main group while the second two numbers represent the sub group. Finally, the third group of numbers show where the part is located on the vehicle. Models Take a look below to see which codes represent each Volkswagen vehicle: 7L6 – Touareg 7L0 – Touareg 5N0- Tiguan 5G0 – MK7 Golf or GTI 5G1 – MK7 Golf or GTI 5K0 – MK6 Golf or GTI 5K6 – MK6 Golf or GTI 5C7 – MK6 Jetta Sedan 5C6 – MK6 Jetta Sedan 5C5 – New Beetle 2013 > 5C0 – New Beetle 2013 > 561- New Passat 2012 > 3C9 – B6 Passat Wagon 3C8 – CC all 3C0 – B6 Passat or CC 3B9 – B5 Passat Wagon 3B5 – B5 Passat 3B0 – B5 Passat 1Y0 – Beetle Convertible 1Q0 – EOS 1KM- MK5 Jetta 1K9 – SportWagen 1K6 – MK5 Jetta or GTI 1K5 – MK5 Jetta or GTI 1K0 – MK5 Jetta or GTI 1J9 – MK4 Jetta Wagon 1J6 – MK4 GTI or Golf 1J5 – MK4 Jetta 1J0 – MK4 Golf or GTI 1EM – Cabrio 1E0 – Cabrio 1CM- Beetle 1C0 – Beetle Main and Sub Groups The Main Group is represented by a number between 0-9 and identifies the system the part is located in on the vehicle. Main Groups include: Engine Fuel Tank, Exhaust, and Air Conditioning Transmission Front Steering, Suspension, Axle and Differential Rear Suspension, Axle and Differential Brakes and Wheels Pedals, Shifter and E-brake Body Electrical Accessories, Radio, jack and tools For the Sub Group, this part of the number identifies where the part is in the main group. Of course there are many these so if you’re looking for the meaning of a specific code, don’t hesitate to ask! Modification Code After the first nine digits, there is a pair of numbers which stand for the vehicle’s modification code. This code is only used when needed, so not all parts will have this part of the number. This code is used when there is something different with this part and others like it that use the same 9 digit base. Difference can vary between a change in design, material or vendor. Color Code Finally, the last three digits in your part number stand for its color code. This can be found on both interior and exterior parts and will identify the color of the item. We hope that this helps you understand the complex numbering system used for each of your Volkswagen’s parts. If you have any questions, feel free to ask – we’re happy to help! If you’re looking to order a specific part for you vehicle, feel free to contact us here at Speedcraft Volkswagen. If you need assistance installing or replacing a part, be sure to contact our expert service department, we’ll have it finished in no time!

In such a competitive segment, it can be difficult to narrow down your choices to find the model that’s right for you. That’s where we here at Speedcraft Volkswagen come in. With its larger engine, the Jetta is capable of not only reaching impressive speeds, but it also accelerates more quickly than the Ford Focus. So if you’re looking for a car that offers not only affordable fuel efficiency, but impressive power and performance as well, the Jetta is a great choice. Interior technology Of course, while power, performance and efficiency are definitely important, they aren’t everything. Drivers also want to ensure that they have a comfortable, enjoyable driving experience each time they get behind the wheel. Types of noises your brakes make and what they mean
Brakes making noise in your Volkswagen The brakes in your Volkswagen are integral to the safety of your vehicle. That being said, it’s important to recognize signs of problems arising in your vehicle’s brakes. One of the tell-tale signs of brake problems is hearing your brakes making noise. There are three particular noises for you to listen for in your brakes that could be signs that your brakes need repair or replacement. It’s a good idea to make a habit of occasionally turning down your radio and listening to your brakes, though if you don’t hear noises coming from your brakes, it’s pretty safe to assume that they’re in fine working order. However, if you do notice one of the types of noises listed below it’s important that you bring your vehicle in to have it checked out. Car making a squealing noise When you’re driving, you might hear a high-pitched squealing noise that goes away when braking. This noise isn’t a problem itself, but is actually a warning noise used to indicate the potential for a brake problem. Manufacturers like Volkswagen build this warning into their vehicles to notify drivers before your vehicle’s brakes begin to wear down into the rotors. At that point, it’s a good idea to bring your vehicle in to our excellent service department here at Speedcraft Volkswagen. Catching problems with your brakes at this point is going to save you the most money as the more your brakes grind into the rotor, the more the cost of repair go up. Grinding noise in your brakes If you miss the squealing noise, unfortunately the next noise you’ll hear is a grinding or growling noise when you brake and it’s quite a bit more serious of a problem. The grinding noise is caused by your vehicle’s brake pads being worn through and the brakes beginning to grind into the rotor. This noise is usually much louder and harder to miss. You’ll likely know it when you hear it. When your Volkswagen reaches this point, unfortunately the cost of repair can rise quickly. The longer you drive your vehicle while it’s experiencing this problem, the more damage is done. If you don’t fix this problem as soon as possible, it can lead to further problems with the caliper in the hydraulics which can lead to another costly repair. Squeaking brakes Another noise you may hear coming from your brakes is a squeaking noise that occurs when you stop. Luckily, this isn’t a very serious problem and doesn’t usually call for a replacement of your brakes. Rather, it’s a sign that your brakes were not installed correctly when they were changed. A possible cause is weak pads or unlubricated caliper. Usually this isn’t a cause for a problem in your vehicle, aside from being annoying, but it is a relatively easy repair. If you’re experiencing any of these problems in your Volkswagen vehicle, we encourage you to stop by our service department here at Speedcraft Volkswagen. Simply contact us here to schedule an appointment.

In addition to its sturdy construction, the 2016 Passat comes with a winning combination of passive and active safety features designed to keep you out of harm’s way, and protect you when it’s unavoidable. Some of the safety features available with the Passat include: Automatic Post-Collision Braking System Adaptive Cruise Control Forward Collision Warning Autonomous Emergency Braking Lane Departure Warning System Blind Spot Monitor Park Assist Much more! It may be the case that your Volkswagen vehicle drifts slightly the left or right. While this may seem like a minor inconvenience to some, it can actually put you and your car at risk. When you drive your vehicle with alignment problems, controlling your vehicle can be difficult. Another instance where front end alignment causes problems is emergency braking. By not being able to predict where your vehicle will go during emergency braking, it can be very difficult to maintain control. For reasons such as these, it’s important that drivers see that their alignment problems are fixed. Another way you can find problems with your vehicle’s tire alignment is the feeling of your steering wheel. If there is a vibration in it, it is a sign that your vehicle is having problems balancing. Bring your car in to Speedcraft VW Even though it can be obvious when your vehicle is experiencing alignment issues, there’s still a chance that it could go unnoticed for some time. That’s why it’s also important that you bring your vehicle in to our service department regularly to have its alignment tested. Here at Speedcraft, our expert staff will inspect your vehicle’s suspension and steering systems in addition to inspecting your tires and their air pressure.
