Volkswagen recalls 2015 Golf after problems spark with Bosch fuel pump

Volkswagen recalls over 6,000 models due to faulty component Volkswagen has followed in BMW and Nissan's suit in recalling some of their vehicles due to problems with equipment supplied by Bosch engineering company. The parts in question are the nickel-plated fuel pumps. It has been discovered that the nickel plating has the potential to chip off the part and cause problems with the pump. The 2015 Volkswagen Golf is the most recent victim in a string of vehicle recalls caused by this problem. Along with the Volkswagen recall, other victims include the Audi A4 and GTI.  The total number of these models that need to be repaired add up to 6,204 units. Problems like this have been known to happen before. For this case, the pump’s nickel plating can possibly flake and fall off of the component. The nickel chips could end up causing friction in the pump and, if left unchecked, eventually lead to the component failing. No reports of accidents or injuries resulting from this issue in Volkswagen have been made, but this remains a serious problem. Even though these models don’t have the same exact component, all of them have feature the same nickel plating process. Because of this, all of them have the potential to be dangerous to drivers. Owners of recalled vehicles If you’re the owner of a model of the 2015 Volkswagen Golf, there is a good chance that it has been recalled. If you are the owner of a vehicle affected by the problems with the Bosch parts, you should be notified by mail soon if you haven’t been already. Unfortunately, Bosch does not currently have enough parts made to replace all of the defective components. Automakers are currently working with them in order to create more pumps to replace the defective ones. It is important to note that once parts become available, our service department will replace these components for affected customers free of charge. If you haven’t received notification of a recall, but still want to see if your vehicle is affected, you can do so easily on the Volkswagen website. The Volkswagen recall tool makes it easy to check up on your vehicle based on its VIN number. Your car’s VIN number should be located on the driver’s side dashboard, or on the sticker inside the driver doorjam. If you can’t find it in either of these places, the number can also be found on your registration form. With it, you can use the recall tool to view what recalls have been issued for you vehicle. If you have a used vehicle, you can also view if any recalls have been made on your vehicle in the past, and if the problem had been fixed.

VW Vans Coming Back to the United States?

Do you think the return of the VW Microbus (Hippie Van) is long overdue? Would you be interested in a new VW Pickup Truck? Both might be in our future. VW cruised onto the scene here in America with its one-of-a-kind Microbus. And now Volkswagen is thinking about introducing a line of vans and pickups here in the United States. Eckhard Scholz, head of the light commercial vehicles unit for Volkswagen, expressed interest in the U.S. market just last week.  Are VW Vans Coming Back to the United States? “Pickup trucks are a dominating segment,” while there’s also a trend in the U.S. toward compact European vans, Scholz said. “We’re looking at both options intensively.” Truthfully, VW has been toying with introducing a pickup to the U.S. market for a few years now. The Volkswagen Amarok is the midsize pickup that is seeing unbelievable success in South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Russia, and much of Europe. As of now, Canadian and U.S. dealerships do not have access to the popular pickup, but all of that might change in the near future. If vans and pickups from Volkswagen are going to be successful here, Volkswagen will have to continue to pull American consumers into the current century by educating the market about the endless list of benefits to diesel. As we showed you right here on the blog, diesel engines are still in the midst of a long-running public relations campaign. And if a diesel pickup or van are going to take hold in this market, there’s still some work to be done in educating the public. For some reason, only the United States market still sees diesel engines as the old technology that existed in the 1980s. It goes without saying that diesel engines have come a long way in the last 30 years, yet Americans struggle with abandoning misconceptions when compared to other nations. The Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus/camper van, pictured above, was still in production in some markets right up until December of 2013. Around the world it is still called the ‘microbus’ and here in the United States the older models still represent the counterculture movement of the 1960s. The microbus is affectionately known as the “Hippie Van” by a lot of people throughout the country. The cult following of the VW Microbus has never diminished over the years. Subsequently, a fairly large cross section of the U.S. market still believes that a more efficient, up-to-date model that maintains the overall appearance of the original generation would do well in the United States. In many ways, bringing back the VW Van /Microbus wouldn’t be that unlike the resurgence of the new VW Beetle. The Beetle still enjoys unbelievable popularity as one of the most recognizable vehicles in history. It’s more efficient, more safe, and modern, but it still looks like a Beetle. The same could hold true for the microbus. In fact, when VW launched the New Beetle the company also began planning for a similar release of the Hippie Van, but plans were scrapped in favor of more cost-effective designs that have yet to make their American debuts. What do you think? Would you be interested in a new and improved VW Microbus or an updated, modern, efficient but durable VW Pickup Truck? Volkswagen currently plans to invest $7 Billion into North American operations, so it’s a fairly safe bet that if they started to produce a new consumer-focused microbus, or a commercial pickup or transport van, they would all be built right here in the U.S.

Each year, the vehicles of each class with the highest score are ranked as the year’s best cars for the money. The 2015 Best Cars for the Money report issued was just released, and it names not one but two Volkswagen vehicles as the best bang for your buck. Every car, truck, SUV, and van in the country is a contender for the Best Cars for the Money ranking, but only 21 vehicles total can be selected. One for each category. Each model is ranked based on a combination of consumer reports, positive reviews, and overall long-term value of the vehicle. This year’s awards for the 2015 Best Cars for the Money covered 21 specific automotive categories, spanning the entirety of all cars, trucks and SUVs sold in the United States. The sports car with the best value in the United States is the 2015 Volkswagen GTI, and the compact with the best value in the United States is the 2015 Volkswagen Golf. Dollar-for-dollar, consumers and experts list the GTI at the top of the list in terms of power and performance per dollar. The 2015 VW Golf has been named this year’s car of the year more times than we can count. And now there’s another feather in this unbeatable compact car’s proverbial hat. As the most valuable compact car of 2015, the new Golf proves that it’s one of those cars that ticks all the boxes, and it does everything better than every other car in its class. Unbeatable gas milage, versatile cargo space, durability, and a truly best-in-class cabin make it the best compact car for the money. The U.S. News & World Report rankings are no small matter. This most recent report speaks volumes about the direction in which Volkswagen is headed. Building best-in-class vehicles that are built to last a generation or more, and offering them at a highly competitive price is the VW way. If you are interested in the 2015 VW Golf or the 2015 VW GTI now that both have been officially ranked as the 2015 Best Cars for the Money, please let us know so we can get you behind the wheel and you can see what all the fuss is about.

VW’s new SUV Was Revealed

At the Detroit Auto Show this week, Volkswagen announced that they will be launching an all-new SUV. This week was the Detroit Auto Show where North America’s newest car models have historically first been revealed. And this year was no exception. The 2015 show this week was where VW’s New SUV Was Revealed. They are calling it the Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE. Officially, it is still considered a concept car, but unofficially it has many of the elements that will make their way to production, eventually arriving at VW lots across the country. The VW Cross Coupe GTE really takes Volkswagen’s SUV lineup in a new direction. The five-seat crossover has a hybrid gas/electric motor. The 3.6-liter V6 produces 276 horsepower easily, and the electric motors bring enough additional power to bring the total horsepower of the vehicle up to a thrilling 355. The Cross Coupe GTE is also believed to have a 20-mile, electric-only range. For daily short commuters, this is the kind of crossover that will really appeal to a great number of people. The biggest point to make about this reveal, though, is that Volkswagen has indicated that the appearance and overall design of the Cross Coupe GTE will be dictating VW style for the next generation of vehicles. This Cross Coupe is likely to maintain many of the primary styling elements by the time it makes it to production, and the seven-seat SUV from VW that has yet to be revealed will also likely look like one of the family. More aggressive lines, modern slopes and more sweeping angles really work well to combine German practicality with contemporary, head-turning design. The interior of the new Volkswagen Cross Coupe also departs from the traditional design efforts of recent years, too. VW opts for a far more simplified approach to user interaction with all of the car’s features. The knobs and buttons are nearly non-existent, and actual control of a variety of features becomes far more intuitive and based in common sense. It’s an interior design style based around technology, and it won’t require an instruction manual just to turn on the air conditioning. We promise to keep you updated here with all of the changes coming down the pipe for the Volkswagen SUV family of utility vehicles.

The Volkswagen Golf is the Car of the Year

At the Detroit Auto Show this week the VW Golf and Golf GTI were named the Car of the Year For the past few weeks, all of the national auto publications and blogs have been speculating as to which car would take home the title of Car of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show. An overwhelming majority was predicting that Ford would sweep the show, and they almost did after it was announced that the Ford F-150 would beat the Chevy Colorado and take the Truck of the Year honor. Then it was announced that The Volkswagen Golf is the Car of the Year. The Volkswagen Golf was selected above all other cars by a jury of almost 60 journalists. The categories by which all cars had to meet or beat the Golf were design, safety, performance, and value. No other car came close to surpassing the VW Golf. The Volkswagen Golf is a compact hatchback that seems to appeal to an incredible cross-section of drivers. Young families, college students, empty nesters, grandparents, young professionals and a variety of other demographics see incredible value in the Golf’s versatility and spunky handling. It is a fun car to drive, and it is practical in every sense of the word. Moreover, the cargo room and passenger space is greater than nearly any other compact on the market. It’s one of those cars that people don’t fall in love with until they slide behind the wheel. And then it’s really hard to get them to want to come out. The Volkswagen Golf and Golf GTI are likely to enjoy their time in the sun after earning the prestigious award. The Golf was also Motor Trend’s Car of the Year this year, making it currently one of the most awarded vehicles of all time. It’s one of those rare cars that achieves exceptional fuel efficiency, the highest safety standards, and surprisingly thrilling power all wrapped up in a package that costs less than many other vehicles on the market. The Car of the Year award is the most sought-after award in the automotive industry, and is announced annually at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This was the first time VW won the award since the VW Beetle won in 1999. If you would like to stop in to test drive the Car of the Year, we currently have quite a few in stock for you to choose from. Contact us to schedule a test drive, or feel free to just stop in.
