Rhode Island DRIVE rebate program Here at Speedcraft Volkswagen, we’re happy to announce that we will be taking part in the DRIVE program designed by the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER) and working to provide more Ocean State drivers with more sustainable electric vehicles at incentive prices. The Driving Rhode Island to Vehicle Electrification (DRIVE) Rebate Program was created as a part of the solution to the growing problems within the transportation sector. According to the Rhode Island State Energy Plan, transportation accounts for 40% of total statewide energy expenditures and releases 4.5 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annual. To help alleviate this problem, Rhode Island is encouraging more of its drivers to opt for alternative clean transportation solutions such as electric vehicles. Not only to EVs leave much smaller a carbon footprint, but they also reduce the fuel cost for owners. Inspired by similar programs offered in Connecticut and Massachusetts, OER will be offer qualifying Rhode Island applicants a financial incentive in the form of up to $2,500 toward the purchase or lease of an electric vehicle.
