Interior Temperature of Volkswagen Vehicles in Hot Summer Weather Here in Rhode Island, we are lucky to have so many beaches to help cool us down during the summer months. However, once in a while we will experience a heat wave where the temperatures can get up into the 80s, 90s, or even the 100s. These high temperatures can be a little uncomfortable, especially when we have to drive anywhere. Usually, our Volkswagen is parked out in the open where it is exposed to the outdoor temperatures. Unless if you are driving a Volkswagen Beetle Convertible (contact us to find out if we have any in stock!), your vehicle is completely enclosed and will retain the heat. And when the sun is shining bright, the mercury rises even more! So how hot can the cabin of your Volkswagen model get? Some resources say that the temperatures can reach as high as 200 degrees – especially if you have dark interior features/fabrics. That can make driving rather painful – especially when you have to touch the hot steering wheel (hint: throw a towel over your steering wheel before you exit your Volkswagen to keep the surface temperature down). Those hot temperatures are not only uncomfortable, but also incredibly dangerous for pets and children! It only takes a few minutes for the internal temperature of your Volkswagen to rise more than 20 degrees. Please make sure to not leave anyone behind in your vehicle – even if it is "only for a few minutes". In addition to your loved ones, please remember to remove all valuables that could potentially melt in the high temperatures, such as ice cream or plastic-based products (remember the days of LPs and video cassettes with the warning labels?). If you have any questions about how to keep your Volkswagen cool and comfortable this summer, please visit us here at Speedcraft Volkswagen! View Our Inventory of New Volkswagen Models!

2018 VW Tiguan New Engine Specs The good news about the newly redesigned 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan just keeps coming! We have already talked about the increased dimensions and how much the vehicle will cost, but we have another bit of information that you will definitely want to know about. That bit of information concerns the engine, which is the beating heart of the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. As far as the sizing is concerned, the engine of the 2018 edition of the Volkswagen Tiguan remains the same at 2.0 liters and with four cylinders. But don't let that fool you! The world-renowned engineers at Volkswagen took the engine back to the drawing board and gave it some adjustments (like added TSI mechanisms) to create a different power combination. This combination includes 184 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque (previous models had a 200 horsepower / 207 lb.-ft. torque power combination). Learn More About the 2018 VW Tiguan Near Providence, RI What is the Towing Capacity of the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan? The new engine allows the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan to pull up to 1,500 pounds, which is enough for a trailer loaded with the family's kayaks or supplies for that home renovation project. What is the 2018 VW Tiguan Model's Fuel Economy? One major change that occurred with the new engine was an improved fuel economy, which is estimated to be 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway (20 mpg-city / 24 mpg-highway for previous models), though there may be a slight decrease when you have the 4MOTION all-wheel drive added. And with the help of a 15.3-gallon fuel tank (15.9 for 4MOTION models), you will definitely go farther with fewer fill-ups along the way! The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to arrive here at Speedcraft Volkswagen later this summer, so contact us or visit our dealership to learn more and to reserve yours!

Best Seaside Towns, Beaches, and Aquariums in Rhode Island In addition to National Dairy Month, June is National Oceans Month – which gives us even more reason to love it! We are the Ocean State, after all! And what better way to celebrate the remainder of National Oceans Month (and the rest of summer) than by visiting the best seaside towns, beaches, and aquariums in Rhode Island? Read More About Rhode Island Tourism What are the Best Seaside Towns in Rhode Island? We truly love all of Rhode Island's charming seaside towns, so you can't go wrong with any one of them. One of our favorite towns is Narragansett, which is just a hop, skip, and a jump from us here in Wakefield. Narragansett is home to several restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy good food while watching the ocean waves. There is also plenty of beach land, along with trails for you to explore. Another favorite seaside town of ours is Sakonnet Point (Little Compton), which is on the eastern side of the state. Sakonnet Point boasts plenty of coastline, where you can witness some beautiful sunsets. There are also several vintage and specialty shops for you to check out, along with some local wineries. What are the Best Beaches in Rhode Island? With more than 40 miles of coastline in Rhode Island, you have a lot – and we mean A LOT of beaches to check out! By far, our favorite has to be Watch Hill Beach near Westerly, which features golden sand and gentle waves. It also has one of the oldest carousels in America. Another favorite beach of ours that is also near Westerly is Napatree Point. It is very picturesque and you are more apt to see wildlife because it is considered to be a special habitat area. What is the Best Aquarium/Marine Center in Rhode Island? Speaking of habitats, you can learn about marine wildlife at one of the best aquariums/marine centers in Rhode Island, which is the Exploration Center & Aquarium in Newport. Here, you can get a good look at marine animals like lobsters and seahorses that are native to the Narragansett Bay. There are also touch tanks so you can pet some of the more docile creatures. This activity is fun for the whole family! From all of us here at Speedcraft Volkswagen: Happy National Oceans Month!
