Volkswagen announces the new limited edition 2017 #PinkBeetle

2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle features The masses have spoken! Volkswagen just announced earlier this month that highly anticipated #PinkBeetle will go into production for the 2017 model year. Show last year at the 2015 New York Auto Show as a concept model, this unique spin on the classic VW combined with a stroke of social marketing genius is the first vehicle to ever be named as its own hashtag. Here’s what we know so far about the 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle. We know that the 2017 #PinkBeetle will be offered just in limited quantities across the US as both a coupe and a convertible, and in those models will sit a 1.8-liter turbocharged, direct-injection TSI® engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine option will allow the #PinkBeetle to produce an impressive 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque for a drive that’s exhilarating from the start. The unique look of the Volkswagen Beetle’s Fresh Fuchsia Metallic exterior color is eye-catching, to say the least. Add on accenting gloss-black mirror caps and black running boards and you’ve got one attractive coupe that’s great for any occasion. The #PinkBeetle will be fitted with 18-inch wheels with a 5-spoke Twister design. Both versions of the model will also feature Bi-Xenon headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights as well as LED taillights and license plate lighting as a standard. Interior design The bright exterior of the #PinkBeetle is complemented by its striking black interior. The Black dashboard features pink accenting and a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. The Pink Club cloth seats inside the limited edition model might be familiar to fans of the Volkswagen GTI, however instead of the GTI’s sporty red striping, drivers of the #PinkBeetle get – you guessed it – pink plaid to match the exterior perfectly. Each model will also feature the Volkswagen Composition Media infotainment system which comes equipped with a 6.3-inch capacitive touch screen that functions with gesture control to allow pinch zooming and swiping. Proximity sensors, USB and Bluetooth® connectivity and Keyless access are also among the features included with the #PinkBeetle. While we won’t know the 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle release date as it will be announced closer to its launch, let us know if you’d be interested in getting the #PinkBeetle here at Speedcraft Volkswagen. Just contact us here and we’ll be sure to notify you when it becomes available. That way, you can be the first person to take it out for a test drive! 5 myths about gas mileage

Saving gas in your Volkswagen These days, all drivers are looking to get the most out of their vehicle’s gas tank. That being the case, there are plenty of tips for you to follow to get better savings in your Volkswagen, however where there are tips, there are tips and tricks, there are bound to be myths as well. Here are 5 popular myths about gas mileage that many drivers take to be truth. If you’re following these tips looking to save money, you’ll be surprised to find that they can actually end up costing you in the long run. Myth #1. Only smaller cars get good fuel economy This one’s been disproven time and time again. With all of the hybrids and direct fuel injection engines out there today, there are plenty of larger vehicles that deliver some pretty remarkable fuel economy. Myth #2. It costs more fuel to start a car than to leave it idle This one can really end up costing you. While this may have been the case back in the day (depending on how long you stayed idle), modern fuel injected engines are much more effcient at starting. Leaving your car idle can cost you a quarter to half a gallon per hour, depending on your engine size. That can lead to you losing 1-2 cents per minute. For that reason, it’s recommended that you turn your engine off when your vehicle is sitting still and you know you’ll be waiting a while. Myth #3. Vehicles should be warmed up before being driven A popular notion here in the northern states, modern engines don’t need to sit idle, “warming” up before being driven. This was the case for older models, which is why the practice has been continued for so long, traveling through generations of drivers, however modern technology makes it unnecessary, and it can end up costing you fuel. Myth #4. Manual transmissions always get better fuel economy This is true in many cases, but to say “all” would be incorrect. The auto industry has really come a long way in improving the automatic transmission vehicle, bringing them to the point where they’re fore the most part equal to the manual transmission, and even perform better in some instances. Myth #5. Premium fuel improves your fuel economy Unless your vehicle is designed to run on premium fuel, or makes a loud knocking noise when filled with regular fuel, it’s very unlikely that you’ll find any real benefit to using premium fuel over regular. In some instances, your Volkswagen might have a slight improvement, however the cost of the premium fuel would likely more than cancel out any savings. To see what fuel you should be using, check your owner’s manual. Have any fuel economy myths of your own? Let us know in the comments below!

Volkswagen teases new SUV line with T-Cross Breeze concept model

Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze concept model Volkswagen announced last month that they plan to expand their line to include three new SUV models. Adding these three new models to the already available Tiguan and Touareg will bring the brand to a total of five different, versatile SUV models. The first of these new SUV models revealed is the new Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze concept model. To say that the T-Cross Breeze is unique is a vast understatement. According to Volkswagen, the model will be the first open-top SUV in its class, while still remaining affordable for everyday drivers. The brand also noted that the striking, fresh design offers an exciting look at the new styling direction it plans to take. While this is just a concept model at this point, it is possible that it could become a future production model. Its unmistakable design comes from the brand’s goal of making each model immediately recognizable as a Volkswagen. The front of the model is characterized by its wide radiator grille and narrow headlights for a distinct front fascia. From the side, the T-Cross Breeze also features a strong profile thanks to its unique character lines and its 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels that feature a spiral design, accentuated by colorful star-shaped plastic caps. At the back, the convertible SUV offers an extremely wide trunk with integrated LED tail lights. The lid opens up to offer nearly 10.6 cubic feet of cargo space. Interior features As for the interior, the T-Cross Breeze doesn’t disappoint in terms of technology and comfort. The brand is taking giant steps in terms of technology with new control interface that plans on replacing buttons and switches. The interior technology of the T-Cross Breeze is similar to that of the BUDD-e microbus concept that we covered earlier this month, taking advantage of new technology and providing touch and gesture control. T-Cross Breeze engine specs Under the hood of the T-Cross Breeze sits a highly efficient 1.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injection TSI gasoline engine. Volkswagen shares details on new BUDD-e microbus concept model

Volkswagen microbus concept model First revealed earlier this year, the Volkswagen BUDD-e microbus concept model made its New York Auto Show Debut late last month, offering new details on the highly anticipated Volkswagen microbus concept model. Not only does the model offer the spacious interior fans of the original VW bus have been asking for, but it does so while taking in-car technology to the next level. New Technology Designed to appeal to VW enthusiasts both young and old, the BUDD-e microbus will be the first VW model based on the new Modular Electric Toolkit (MEB), which has been designed specifically for plug-in vehicles, offering new and improved range capability. With the MEB system, the concept microbus is estimated by the EPA to be capable of achieving a range of 233 miles, making it quite the game-changer for the EV segment. That’s not all the microbus has in store for technology fans, either. The interior of the BUDD-e features a wide range of new technology not yet seen in the VW line. Technology will be a big staple inside the new microbus, with multiple innovative touchscreen displays and the models new control system. Inside this vehicle, pushing buttons and flipping switches will be a thing of the past as this new model will feature only touch and gesture control system. With this new system, controlling your vehicle and infotainment system will be as easy as waving your hand. Other great tech to be included in the VW microbus include: e-Mirror, which uses an integrated rearview camera rather than a tradition standard mirror. Multi-functional steering wheel 3.0, which is completely switchless. Functions normally found on the steering wheel can be activated with pressure or swipe gestures. Raised buttons on the operating stack surface replace the traditional shift paddle. Sensors are able to recognize specific people as the approach the vehicle with the gesture control system. A vehicle such as this just goes to how far Volkswagen technology has come. While this model offer so much in terms of technology, it still harkens back to its VW origins with its reminiscent styling elements. How to replace the windshield wipers on your Volkswagen

How to replace Volkswagen windshield wipers When it comes to driving, there are few things as important as having proper visibility – especially in bad weather conditions. That’s why it’s extremely important that your Volkswagen’s windshield wipers are working properly. To ensure proper visibility with your wipers, they should be switched out regularly with new blades. Take a look below to learn when and how to replace your Volkswagen windshield wipers. As a rule of thumb, your Volkswagen’s wiper blades should be replaced about every six months to make sure you don’t end up driving around with worn out, dull blades that hardly work. Of course, you can also change them whenever you notice they aren’t wiping properly and it begins to affect your visibility. If you’d like, our expert staff here at Speedcraft Volkswagen are always here to help change them for you and help with any other service your vehicle may need, otherwise it’s a relatively simple process to do on your own. Signs that your windshield wipers need replacing The signs that your windshield wipers need changing are easy to see – literally. The biggest indicator that your wipers should be replaced is a decline in your visibility when you use them. Some common signs include your wipers squeaking, chattering, skipping areas or just smearing or streaking – all of which can either decrease visibility or simply be distracting to the driver. Since the windshield wipers on your Volkswagen are made of rubber, they eventually wear out – even when they aren’t used very often. That’s why it’s important to make sure that they’re in good shape when you need them. Follow the simple steps below to replace your wipers on your own. How to replace your windshield wipers Step 1: Remove the old wiper Remove the old wiper by lifting the wiper arm away from the windshield. Then press the small tab on the underside of the wiper, where it meets the arm. You can then slide the wiper blade off of the arm by pulling the center toward the bottom of the arm. Step 2: Line up the arm with the new blade This is easily done – just move the hook on the arm over the plastic clip on the new wiper blade. Step 3: Tighten Finally, tighten the wiper by pulling the wiper blade onto the arm. You’ll hear a clicking sound when it locks into place. Then, lower the wiper and you’re all set! Repeat this process for the second wiper if necessary. If you need any help with your vehicle’s windshield wipers, or if they aren’t working at all, , feel free to visit us here at Speedcraft Volkswagen. We’re equipped to handle a wide variety of different services, so we’ll be happy to help with any fixes or maintenance you may need.
