Volkswagen announces two new trim levels for the 2017 Tiguan

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Wolfsburg and Sport trims The Volkswagen Tiguan has been a go-to model for families looking for a secure, spacious vehicle that’s able to offer advanced features at a great value. For the 2017 model year, the Tiguan will continue to offer all of these great qualities, however a few notable changes have been made to its model lineup. The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Wolfsburg and Sport trims have been added in place of the R-Line and SE trims, giving the Tiguan better value than ever. In previous models, the more advanced and high tech features were available only at the higher trim levels of the Volkswagen Tiguan. Volkswagen’s aiming to change that with the addition of its two new trim levels, the Wolfsburg and Sport grades, to the 2017 VW Tiguan. These trims will be replacing the model's current R-Line and SE trims. For 2017, the Wolfsburg will be replacing the R-Line model in the Tiguan lineup, and will feature unique Wolfsburg Edition badging on its exterior as well as its sport interior floor mats. The model will also feature a standard panoramic sunroof for an added element of style and comfort. Instead of the SE trim, the 2017 Tiguan will offer the Sport trim, which will feature 18-inch gray Mallory aluminum-alloy wheels, body color side sills and rear bumper, accent black side-mirror door caps, a sport suspension and Climatronic automatic dual-zone climate control for a more comfortable, stylish ride. You can also upgrade the Sport trim to include available Vienna leather seating surfaces, power driver and passenger seats with driver’s seat memory function, and power folding door mirrors. New standard features for the 2017 Tiguan Additionally, more features will also be available as standards on the base level Tiguan. Now offering a better value than ever, the base S trim will feature the Volkswagen Composition Media infotainment system, functioning with a 6.3-inch screen while offering USB, Bluetooth and VW Car-Net App Connect connectivity. This new media system also comes with HD radio, two SD card slots, is able to sync two phones at the same time as well as a SiriusXM Satellite Radio trial. These new additions to the base Tiguan make it easier than ever for drivers to get great technology and upscale features behind the wheel, without breaking the bank. Compare the size difference between the 2016 Tiguan and the 2016 Touareg

2016 Volkswagen Tiguan vs 2016 Volkswagen Touareg size comparison If you’re looking to add an SUV to your family’s fleet, you can’t go wrong with either of the Volkswagen brand’s capable and stylish SUVs. Both the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Touareg have plenty to offer in terms of power and performance, so when it comes to deciding between the two, many drivers choose the model that best meets their needs in terms of exterior size and interior space. To help you figure out which model is right for you, we’ve compiled a size comparison between the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan vs 2016 Toyota Volkswagen Touareg. Exterior size If you’ve got limited garage space, it’s a good idea to know exactly how big a vehicle is, to figure out how well it will fit. On the other hand, if you’re not too concerned about saving space, and you like to feel like you can handle whatever the road throws at you, you may want to put that into consideration when deciding which size vehicle is right for you. Read more about the Tiguan Offering both interior space and a smaller size to conserve exterior space, the 2016 VW Tiguan is a great choice for those in the city with limited parking space, who still need room for 5 passengers and their gear. A great family vehicle, the Tiguan is both efficient and versatile. Read more about the Touareg The bigger of the two, the 2016 VW Touareg will be a bit more difficult to fit into a full garage, but it more than makes up for it with its easy maneuverability. So if you’ve got a big garage and like bigger, more durable vehicles, the Touareg might be the SUV for you. Interior space Having enough space for everyone inside your SUV is also an important aspect to consider when choosing between the Tiguan and the Touareg. Having a vehicle that offers enough space for passengers and gear is integral to keeping everyone happy on the road. Both models offer comfortable seating for up to five passengers, however the amount of space can make all of the difference in the world to some drivers. Tiguan interior Despite being a compact SUV, the Tiguan still delivers plenty of interior space for everyone to sit comfortably. Whether you’re in the driver’s seat, or in the middle of the second row bench seat, you’ll have plenty of room to stretch out. Touareg interior The Touareg’s larger size is put to good use inside, where passengers all have room to stretch out and sit comfortably in its cavernous passenger space. While the Tiguan may come at a higher price than the CX-5, you definitely know you’re getting your money’s worth in terms of technology and gadgets. And while the Mazda CX-5 may be capable of better fuel economy than the Tiguan, slightly lower fuel efficiency is to be expected from a vehicle that prioritizes a powerful, dynamic drive. When you compare the power and capability of the Tiguan to the CX-5, there’s really no comparison. With its impressive horsepower and torque capability, the Tiguan is able to reach higher speeds much more quickly than the Mazda CX-5. VW's Crossover SUVs: The Tiguan and Touareg

VW Crossover SUV Providence RI A quick glance over our inventory at Speedcraft VW will reveal that two of our most popular vehicles, the Tiguan and the Touareg, are classified as “crossover SUVs.” For whatever reason, this term--”crossover SUV”--causes a fair bit of confusion for many shoppers. Does it mean half-car/half-truck? Does it mean anything at all? As it turns out, it does mean something. Here, in a brief rundown, is what is meant by the term, “Crossover SUV.” They use a unibody construction. The chief difference between a crossover SUV and a standard SUV is its construction. Where traditional SUVs used body-on-frame construction similar to that found in pickups, crossover SUVs use a unibody construction more akin to cars and vans. This makes it far lighter, which leads us to…. The 2015 VW Tiguan offer SUV capability in a more efficient package. They are much more efficient. When traditional SUVs were having their moment in the sun, it wasn’t uncommon to see an automaker brag about making 15 mpg on the highway. It isn’t a coincidence that gas prices were also far lower, and people generally didn’t care about such things. When the recession hit, however, drivers realized that, Hey, maybe we should pay attention to things like fuel economy. The result? Vehicles such as the Tiguan and Touareg, which routinely register 26 and 29 highway mpg, respectively. They are considered “On-Road” vehicles. Another takeaway from the recession was that, although body-on-frame SUVs were certainly capable of climbing small mountains and fording rivers, who was actually doing this? No one was. So automakers began to pay attention to the driving habits of the average person, which meant promoting sophisticated road performance and comfortable, accommodating interior cabins. They still boast towing capacities well-suited to pulling boats and trailers, but a fifth-wheel RV? Probably not. For proof of how firmly this automotive renaissance has taken hold, you really need look no further than the VW Tiguan and VW Touareg, both of which are available at Speedcraft VW. Are then intended to ramp over sand dunes or pull out stumps? No, they are not. They’re intended to offer world-beating comfort and efficiency at a price that isn’t intimidating. And, might we add, they are very, very good at it. See you soon at Speedcraft VW!

Four VW Models named to "30 under $30k" List

VW Vehicles Under 30k Providence RI “Yeah, but you have to say that.” This is the common response from the average auto shopper, enduring yet another verbal barrage of options and amenities that would seem to distinguish one car from another. And, at Speedcraft VW, we understand this position; after all, would you expect us to intentionally steer you toward another vehicle? We are here to provide inquiring minds with all the information regarding Volkswagen vehicles, and to that end, I suppose we might sometimes come across as mildly biased. Thankfully, we aren’t the only ones singing the praises of Volkswagen vehicles as well-built, affordable options. Car and Driver magazine recently released their “30 under $30k” list--a rundown of the top vehicles available under $30,000--and we’re proud to announce that four of our models at Speedcraft VW have made the cut. The Beetle R-Line features athletic performance to match its iconic styling. First among them is the 2015 VW Golf GTI, which was recently released to gushing reviews. Recognized among the top entries in the ultra-competitive “hot-hatch” segment, the GTI received high marks for painstaking craftsmanship and execution, which C&D referred to as VW’s “terror of imperfection.” Well, if that can be taken to mean that resulting GTI was worth all the precise planning, we’d call that a win, no? Next among our vehicles to be recognized was the Beetle R-Line, the iconic coupe’s turbocharged sport model. C&D applauded the R-Line’s 210 horsepower and multilink rear suspension, which give the vehicle a curve-hugging, aggressive performance profile. C&D also gave a little love to the 2014 VW Tiguan, our acclaimed crossover SUV option. The magazine likened the Tiguan to a natural extension of the GTI--okay, the exact words used were “What happens when a GTI sucks on an air hose”--but the point was made. The Tiguan is just as advertised, boasting the agility of a car in the body of an SUV. The Jetta SportWagen TDI is spacious, fast and efficient. Our final entry in the “30 under $30k” list was the Golf SportWagen TDI, a remarkably versatile vehicle that rewards drivers with over 40 mpg on the highway along with 67 cubic feet of cargo space. C&D described the SportWagen as “Roomy, Zoomy and Not-at-all Fumey,” which we’ll just paraphrase as “spacious, fun to drive and efficient.” All of these great vehicles are now available at Speedcraft VW, located near Providence in Wakefield, RI. To learn more about these or any of our vehicles or to schedule a test drive, we eagerly await your visit at Speedcraft VW!

Volkswagen Tiguan Continues to Hold Competitors to Higher Standard

2014 VW Tiguan Providence RI The 2014 VW Tiguan sets the standard for the Compact SUV class. The last few years have, by any measure, been pretty interesting in the Compact SUV class. A new competing model seems to roll out every week or so, and while we certainly welcome any and all competition, it has seemed to slightly dilute the “Compact” brand. Where Compact initially meant only “slightly smaller than full-size,” it now seems to imply “cheaper materials, uninspiring performance, and identical designs to other vehicles in the class.” One model that certainly hasn’t kowtowed to the party line, however, is the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan. The new Tiguan, the finest entry in the Compact SUV segment, is now available at Speedcraft VW near Providence, RI. Powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder capable of 200 horsepower, the first thing you notice with the VW Tiguan in Providence RI is its initial get-up-and-go. Its punchy performance and refined ride immediately quell any reservations about what you are signing on for with a Compact SUV, because the Tiguan simply marches to the beat of its own drummer. The driving satisfaction in the 2014 VW Tiguan is second to none; agile handling on corners and athletic acceleration, longtime staples of the Volkswagen performance platform, show up in spades with the Tiguan. A refined interior welcomes drivers of the 2014 VW Tiguan in Providence RI. The upscale interior of the 2014 Tiguan in Providence also reminds Compact SUV shoppers that they aren’t in Kansas anymore. With a 40/20/40-split folding rear seat and fold-flat front passenger seat, the versatility of the interior cargo space may make a driver momentarily forget that they are operating in the Compact segment at all. Meanwhile, available technology features such as the Fender premium audio system, touchscreen navigation and VW Car-Net help keep drivers of the VW Tiguan in Providence RI connected as never before. Despite all of these above-average features, the 2014 VW Tiguan in Providence RI is competitively priced among its competitors, and it proudly stands atop the Compact SUV mountain. To inquire further about the Tiguan or schedule a test drive, contact the courteous and top-rated sales team at Speedcraft VW in Wakefield, RI, located just a short drive from Providence.
