This is the entry-level edition of this vehicle, but it feels like anything but that. With its 1.4L turbocharged engine delivering 147 horsepower, this is a sporty compact vehicle that’s quick off the starting line.
While it does carry that sporty feel, once you’re out on the highway or tackling city streets, you’ll see just how fuel-efficient this vehicle is. It can receive an EPA-estimated 30 MPG city/40 MPG highway.1 A 6-speed manual transmission is the standard powerplant, but the 8-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode is available if you don’t feel like being in charge of shifting.
The cloth seating surfaces are comfortable for both the driver and passengers, while the cabin features a standard 6.5-inch color touchscreen with smartphone compatibility.
With the SE trim, the 8-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode is the standard powerplant. With the Sport mode functionality, all it takes is a quick flip of the switch to get a sportier feel when taking the wheel.
This trim also adds standard Climatronic® dual-zone automatic climate control. This means you don’t have to compromise with the front passenger anymore, as you’ll both be able to set the temperature to your liking.
For those cold winter mornings, use the standard heated front seats to your advantage. The cloth seating surfaces also receive an upgrade, with V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces giving the cabin a more polished look.
The Volkswagen Jetta R-Line makes some styling changes, with the R-Line badging, black grille accents, black painted side mirrors, and rear sport valance. You’ll also get the 17-inch Trenton alloy wheels, which give this car a sportier look.
Inside the cabin, the R-line steering wheel badge makes sure you know which edition of this car you’re driving, while the two-tone seat design is a nice touch.
You’ll have no trouble spotting one of the biggest add-ons in the SEL trim. It’s the Composition Media touchscreen sound system, which comes with a larger 8-inch color display, a proximity sensor, and voice control functionality.
The BeatsAudio® sound system is standard, too, which can transform the way your songs sound.
Meanwhile, you’ll get more driver assistance with the Volkswagen Jetta SEL. Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Control, and Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist) are all standard on this trim.
This trim comes standard with just about everything you can possibly get in a Volkswagen Jetta. Seating comfort is a focus on the SEL Premium trim, with a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory, front seats with power-adjustable lumbar support, and sport-bolstered comfort seats. Best of all, these seats are leather, too. It gives the cabin that more luxurious feel.
This is the only trim to come with Volkswagen Car-Net® Guide and Inform with a 3-month SiriusXM® Traffic trial subscription and 3-month SiriusXM Travel Link® trial subscription. This high-end 2019 Jetta is a driver-friendly car in every sense.
