Volkswagen e-Golf SE

Volkswagen e-Golf SE Pure WhiteSay goodbye to the gas pedal, and hello to electrifying performance from the moment you press down on the accelerator. While gasoline may be absent, fun and excitement are not. The 2019 Volkswagen e-Golf carries an EPA-estimated 125-mile range,1 which means many drivers should be able to go from home to work and back again multiple times without needing to think twice about gas or charging.

As for the electric motor, the power goes directly to the wheels without any hesitation, so all that’s required of you is pressing down on the pedal. The 134 horsepower engine delivers 214 lb-ft of torque, so it’s a sporty option for those seeking one.

When you do take your foot off the pedal, the e-Golf is able to convert energy into electricity, which helps recharge the batteries. This is done through regenerative braking. The higher the regenerative level you choose, the more the car will slow down when you take your foot off the pedal.

Inside the cabin, the cloth seating surfaces are supportive and welcoming for drives both long and short. The 8-inch touchscreen is easy to use thanks to VW Car-Net® App-Connect playing its own important role. All you need to do to activate App-Connect is plug in your smartphone. Select apps will appear right on the touchscreen display of your car.

Volkswagen e-Golf SEL Premium

Volkswagen e-Golf SEL PremiumYou’re still going to get the same great electric performance with the SEL Premium trim, along with this car’s great looks. More awaits, though. The cabin is the first thing you’ll notice that’s different, thanks to the leatherette seats, which give things a more luxurious feel. The ambient lighting, which comes standard, lets you assign a mood to your drive whether you’re going for relaxation or invigoration.

While the 8-inch touchscreen on the entry-level edition of this vehicle is easy to use, the 9.2-inch screen found on the SEL Premium takes things to a whole new level. The innovative gesture control even lets you control certain functions behind the glass display just with a swipe motion of your hand.

This trim is also loaded with safety features you won’t find on the SE. Included are Lane Keeping Assist, Park Distance Control, Park Assist, and High Beam Control. Lane Assist can sense lane drifting without a turn signal, and keep you in the current lane. Park Distance Control assists in backing out or driving into a parking spot, with audible signals and the display letting you know how much space you have to work with.
