Under the hood of the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas will either be a 280 horsepower 3.6L V6 engine or a 238 horsepower 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine. The 2.0L engine will be available at a later date.
Towing Capacity
The 2.0L engine delivers a 2,000-pound towing capacity. If you have a bigger boat or trailer that needs to be pulled, models outfitted with the 3.6L engine can tow 2,000 to 5,000 pounds.
