Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Performance
With the standard 147-horsepower turbocharged engine, the Golf SportWagen has the perfect amount of power and the just-right handling to get you where you need to go. If you’re looking for a bit more power, the available 1.8-liter turbocharged engine has it, generating 168 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque.
Use the available 4MOTION® all-wheel-drive system to your advantage. This system transfers torque between front and rear wheels. Under normal driving conditions, the power will be sent to the front wheels. When needed, torque will be sent to the rear axle to get the power–and traction–you need.
Available on the front-wheel drive models, the 8-speed automatic transmission delivers smooth acceleration and gear changes. If you want more control, shift manually with Tiptronic®. For a more exciting drive, use Sport mode.
VW Golf SportWagen Interior Features
Not only is the Volkswagen Golf SportWagen a sporty car, it’s also versatile. Once you’re inside the cabin, you’ll have a chance to see just how spacious this car is. The 60/40-split folding rear delivers the cargo space of an SUV while still acting as a sporty smaller car.
With the rear seats folded down, you’ll have up to 66.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Load in longer items and still have room for groceries, luggage, or whatever else you may be bringing on the ride.
No matter where you’re heading next, the optional panoramic sunroof, which measures in at over 12 square feet, is a sight to behold. It tilts and slides, too, so you’re able to enjoy the sunshine whether you’re seated up front or in the back.
Golf Sportwagen Safety Features
Volkswagen makes sure to take safety seriously. Every Golf SportWagen comes with the Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) and a rigid safety cage. The safety cage features front and rear crumple zones, which absorb crash energy, while the safety cage deflects crash energy away from the driver and passengers.
If a crash does deploy the airbags, the ICRS turns off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors, and activates the hazard lights–reacting even if you aren’t able to.
It’s important to note that not every collision brings a car to a stop. The Volkswagen Golf SportWagen has the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, slowing the vehicle down after a collision, reducing the chance of additional impact.
