Isn't it Time to Put the Top Down?

Volkswagen Convertible Providence RI

Now that summer is rapidly approaching, and as the red Sharpie gets a workout drawing circles on the calendar, doesn’t it seem like something is missing? With trips to the beach, summer cruises to various festivals, perhaps a night or two at the various drive-in theatres in the area, wouldn’t all of this be much more enjoyable in a Volkswagen convertible from Speedcraft VW near Providence, RI?

Many of the benefits of driving a convertible are obvious to the point of cliche, “The wind in your hair” and all that drivel. Some perks, however, are much less so. Anyone who sits a little long in the saddle, for example, will never have to worry about headroom or neck pain again, while the corollary problem of nagging blind spots during lane changes will be similarly forgotten. And, while we often associate the term “family vehicle” with SUVs and sedans, can you think of anything to bring you and your loved ones together more than a sun-soaked cruise to the coast? No, we thought not. The 2014 VW Eos offers sophistication and luxury that suggests a far steeper sticker price. At Speedcraft VW near Providence, RI, we feature both new and used convertibles to boost your summer months from mild to hot. Each is host to its own charms while proudly featuring the quality craftsmanship that is undeniably Volkswagen. The 2014 VW Beetle Convertible, now available at Speedcraft VW, is everything you would expect from the update of one of history’s most popular convertibles: fun, stylish and highly functional. In all three of the available engine formats--the 2.5L five-cylinder, 2.0L Turbo R-Line, and all-new 1.8L Turbo four-cylinder--the 2014 VW Beetle Convertible exudes confidence and charm, with plenty of athleticism to boot. Also available at Speedcraft VW near Providence is the 2014 Volkswagen Eos, a sophisticated and sporty convertible with a retractable hardtop that neatly separates passengers from road noise when needed, and quickly folds to let the sunshine in on perfect summer days. The Eos comes standard with VW’s new CarNet telematics system, and its refined feel and performance exhibit fine-tuned luxury at a practical price. Of course, the best way to understand the finer points of convertible ownership is to schedule a test drive, which our friendly staff at Speedcraft VW is standing by to assist you with today. Volkswagen teases new SUV line with T-Cross Breeze concept model

Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze concept model Volkswagen announced last month that they plan to expand their line to include three new SUV models. Adding these three new models to the already available Tiguan and Touareg will bring the brand to a total of five different, versatile SUV models. The first of these new SUV models revealed is the new Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze concept model. To say that the T-Cross Breeze is unique is a vast understatement. According to Volkswagen, the model will be the first open-top SUV in its class, while still remaining affordable for everyday drivers. The brand also noted that the striking, fresh design offers an exciting look at the new styling direction it plans to take. While this is just a concept model at this point, it is possible that it could become a future production model. Its unmistakable design comes from the brand’s goal of making each model immediately recognizable as a Volkswagen. The front of the model is characterized by its wide radiator grille and narrow headlights for a distinct front fascia. From the side, the T-Cross Breeze also features a strong profile thanks to its unique character lines and its 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels that feature a spiral design, accentuated by colorful star-shaped plastic caps. At the back, the convertible SUV offers an extremely wide trunk with integrated LED tail lights. The lid opens up to offer nearly 10.6 cubic feet of cargo space. Interior features As for the interior, the T-Cross Breeze doesn’t disappoint in terms of technology and comfort. The brand is taking giant steps in terms of technology with new control interface that plans on replacing buttons and switches. The interior technology of the T-Cross Breeze is similar to that of the BUDD-e microbus concept that we covered earlier this month, taking advantage of new technology and providing touch and gesture control. T-Cross Breeze engine specs Under the hood of the T-Cross Breeze sits a highly efficient 1.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injection TSI gasoline engine. It also features a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox, allowing the SUV convertible to go from 0-62 mph in just 10.3 seconds! It’s also capable of reaching a top speed of 117 mph. Volkswagen protects convertible drivers with safety system

Volkswagen Rollover Protection System Safety has always been a top priority of Volkswagen. We know this because they’re committed to giving drivers a driving experience that is as safe as it is enjoyable. Drivers in need of extra protection are those behind the wheel of convertible vehicles such as 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible. When driving with the top down, driver and passengers are exposed, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an accident. To protect passengers in the event of a rollover accident, Volkswagen has developed the active Roll-Over Bar System. This is the Volkswagen rollover protection system that activates in the event of an accident in order to prevent a rolling vehicle from crushing passengers. How does the Volkswagen rollover bar system work? The rollover bar system provides better support behind the vehicle, protecting passengers in the back from being crushed if the vehicle rolls over. Located behind the rear head rests, two housings open in the event of a rollover. Inside these housings are two bars. The bars have a sectional design, making them capable of absorbing high forces. When the airbag system senses a possible rollover or collision, it activates the Volkswagen rollover protection system. The activation triggers the supporting beams to shoot up out of the housing. Fast-acting beams extend 10.5 inches in 0.25 seconds. The beams lock into place and work with the rigid front windshield frame to support the vehicle during a roll. Between the beams and the windshield, all four seats are protected. If the beams are extended but the convertible doesn’t flip, the beams can be pushed back into their housings and the cover replaced. This design helps drivers keep repair costs down. The Volkswagen Beetle Has Come a Long Way

The VW Beetle in Rhode Island It’s safe to say that the Volkswagen Beetle is still one of the most universally recognizable cars ever built. The VW Beetle in Rhode Island is still a big piece of Americana, and it’s still treasured by so many. The Volkswagen Beetle Has Come a Long Way since it was first introduced, and a few recent videos make that more evident than ever. It is pretty incredible, and filled with historic interviews and footage that really help to place this piece of nostalgia in a cultural context. It is 30 minutes well spent for anyone who loves the bug. Coincidentally, this week VW also released a pretty epic video showing the 2015 VW Beetle in all its modern glory. We currently have several Beetle configurations in stock here in Rhode Island. They are as affordable as they have ever been. We even set up a virtual showroom right here on our website to let you see all of the options and features of the new 2015 Beetle.
