That’s even more so the case now that the 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen features even more in terms of safety and interior technology, due to its incorporation of the Volkswagen MIB II Infotainment System. Since its redesign in 2015, Volkswagen continues to make changes to the Golf SportWagen, making even further upgrades to the wagon’s interface system as well as safety features.

New 2016 Golf SportWagen features

New for the 2016 Golf SportWagen is the MIB II infotainment system, which includes USB connectivity as well as VW Car-Net App-Connect, all of which is controlled through the integrated 6.5-inch touchscreen. A rearview camera is now a standard in the SportWagen, increasing the ease of parking and backing up in your vehicle. For added comfort, the S model will feature cloth seats. Other systems have been added to the 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen, designed to improve the driving experience and make it safer. These systems include an updated Driver Assistance Package in the SE and SEL models which includes: Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning and a Lane Departure Warning. The addition of a Blind Spot Monitor really comes in handy for drivers, featuring a Rear Traffic Alert, Park Distance Control and Parking Steering Assistant (seen below).

2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen capability

If the new SportWagen is anything like the previous model, drivers can rest assured that it delivers both in terms of power and efficiency. The 2015 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen ran on a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a power output of 170 horsepower. That same engine was capable of getting an EPA rating of 25 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway. Even if the 2016 offers these same stats, few drivers would feel the need to complain.
