Drive Slowly

The first rule of driving on snowy roads is to drive slower. It doesn’t take much for your vehicle to slip on snow or ice. If you are going fast and the tires hit a patch of ice, the less likely you are to remain in control of your vehicle. This can happen a lot on turns, so make sure you are driving at an appropriate speed.

Brakes and Wheels

If your brakes are getting stiff and you need to push harder to stop completely, it would be a good idea to get your brakes checked. If your tires are losing traction or are wearing out, you should rotate them or buy new tires.

If you can choose which vehicle to drive during the winter, one with All Wheel Drive is going to have better handling on the road. If you don’t have a vehicle with All Wheel Drive, that does not mean your vehicle is unsafe, it just means that your rear tires will not be able to help as much as the ones in the front. Adding extra weight to the back of your vehicle can help as well. Putting sand bags in the rear or carrying passengers makes it easier to stay in control.

Really useful article. Vehicle could not stand against the extreme temperature of the winter and suitable steps needs to be taken to winterize the vehicle to deal with such situation. Use of thinner synthetic oil is one of effective way to prevent the freezing of such fluids. Tires with less tread depth couldn’t provide better grip on the road surface covered with snow. So, replacement of older tire is really essential to generate better grip on the snowy road surface. Apart from this, the condition of other components of the vehicle needs maintenance at a regular interval to reduce the negative effects of the winter on the vehicle.

Winter is harsh for cars. In winter the roads become covered with snow. So it is difficult for the drivers to drive in the snow as the road becomes slippery. For safe winter driving we must drive slowly. It is better to use winter tires during winter. Because these tires provide better grip on the snowy road surface. Brakes should be checked properly as these become stiff during winter and it is hard to push them. Besides this the condition of other components of the vehicle must be checked thoroughly and if any of the parts found to be damaged they should be repaired at a reputed servicing center.
