2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Long-Body Auto Show Debut
Auto show season always means the debut of many new models and concepts. One of the models gaining attention has been the long-body version of the Volkswagen Tiguan. The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan long-body Auto Show debut has helped us learn more about this new crossover.
How long is the 2018 Tiguan Long-Body?
The longer body of the new Tiguan helps increase storage capacity. The 2018 Tiguan is over 10 inches longer than the existing model, with a total length of 185.2 inches. The added length helps the Tiguan increase storage space by up to 57 percent over the existing model.
A long-body model Tiguan offers benefits beyond just an increase in storage space. The wheelbase of the new model has been extended to 109.9 inches, 4.4 inches longer than the standard length model. The longer wheelbase leads to several additional benefits. The new Tiguan will offer sliding second row seats and a third row that will be available on all models in the lineup.
Shoppers looking for a capable people-hauling SUV will enjoy the benefits that the extra seating space provides.
The power needed to move the larger new Tiguan will come from Volkswagen’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Performance numbers on the engine check in at 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system will also be available on the new Tiguan.
